Mighty Mouse lived up to being the Pound for Pound #1 fighter in the world tonight.
Demetrious Johnson proved why he’s the flyweight king in Kansas tonight. He faced off against a tough BJJ Black Belt in Wilson Reis who many thought would pose many challenges for him on the ground.
The fight began on the feet and stayed that way for most of the fight. Mighty Mouse was visibly quicker from the get go and outpointed Reis for most of Round 1. When the fight went to the ground, DJ signalled for him to get up and walked away. When in the clinch, DJ was brutal with knees to the body.
Round 2 played out similarly to Round 1 but at the end of R2 DJ managed to get the fight to the ground and land some ground and pound. DJ landed a flurry of punches and elbows on Reis to finish off R2.
Round 3 and Reis looked visibly slower, a result of the volume of strikes landed by DJ. DJ managed to get the fight to the ground again, and landed more vicious ground and pound. Eventually passing Reis’ guard, Johnson locked in an armbar which resulted in a quick tap. A third round submission win over a decorated BJJ Black belt.
That makes it 10 straight title defenses for Mighty Mouse, tying Anderson Silva for most consecutive title defenses in UFC History.
