Ronda Rousey back on tv next month

It seems we won’t have to wait long to see Ronda Rousey on the tv screen once again.

Just a short time after appearing as a guest on NBC’s “Blindspot,” the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion will be leading a team on ABC’s revival of “Battle of the Network Stars,” it was announced Tuesday.

The show aired for 13 years beginning in 1976, and it will pit two teams of current and former TV celebrities against one another in athletic contests.  Rousey will be a team captain opposite DeMarcus Ware of the NFL’s Denver Broncos.

Mike Greenberg and Joe Tessitore will be the hosts. The original host of the show in the 1970s and ’80s was Howard Cosell.

The teams will consist of 100 TV stars from 14 different networks across genres during the summer season.  “Battle of the Network Stars” is being produced by Glassman Media and IMG. WME-IMG, of course, represents Rousey and owns the UFC.

The first episode will air June 29 at 9 p.m. ET.

Rousey’s UFC career is still uncertain after a second straight knockout loss.  She has not fought since Amanda Nunes defeated her in 48 seconds at UFC 207 back in December.
