Last weekend, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate stumbled upon Kai, a 6-year-old girl who had just broken her arm, while hiking near Mount Charleston outside Las Vegas and proceeded to carry the girl down the steep, 2.6-mile trail.
Tate saw Kai’s mother and father struggling to carry her atop the trail near Mary Jane Falls, and decided to offer them assistance and carry her down for them.
Tate shared the details of the encounter on her Facebook page Sunday.
After the encounter, Kai’s parents expressed their relief and gratitude for Tate’s kindness on Instagram on Sunday.
Such a crazy labor day weekend for our family but ended in such an amazing and beautiful way. My poor Kai broke her arm at the top of the Mary Jane Falls hike at Mt Charleston. So @mommapook and I basically had to carry her down miles ahead. To our rescue and assistance came the amazing @mieshatate the UFC fighter. She offered to help us carry her down the mountain. Such an amazing and humble person to have met. Our family cant thank you enough for all the help. You saved us easily hours of hiking and helped us get her to the hospital sooner. Thank you again ???????????? #mieshatate
What a crazy, eventful, day! It started out as a fun hike up Mary Jane Falls, with the family, ended with Kai breaking her arm at the top of the mountain.. I'm SO beyond thankful for @mieshatate carrying her all the way down the mountain, there's no way I would have been able to do it myself. Miesha, you are a true life saver and I can't thank you enough for helping us out today! Kai is your newest #1 fan ?
Tear jerker! Meet Kai the sweet little girl that kept me company down the mountain side, very upbeat despite her broken arm. And I just have to say this was one of the most rewarding days of my athletic career. And I also want to make a point that I have been told many times that I am "too buff" or "manly" that I should stop lifting weights, that it's "gross" and not attractive for a woman. I am so happy I never listened to the limitations others wanted to put on me and I hope that our youth knows that don't have to conform. That strength and beauty come from within! #BeStrong #BeCapable #BeWhatYouWant #NoRegrets #JustLove #PayItForward #GiveBack #Inspire
