Those are fighting words, Cub.
Artem Lobov main events his first UFC card this Saturday night in Nashville. The main event announcement did not come without scrutiny from fans and fellow fighters. Lobov has a mediocre 2-2 record inside the UFC but his latest two fights are wins. Cub Swanson is not convinced his record is good enough for a UFC spot. Artem’s close ties with training partner Conor McGregor are a big factor for him being in the UFC, according to Cub.
“I feel like with his record and things like that there are so many more deserving people to be in the UFC. So somebody else in that situation, if it wouldn’t have been for Conor, he would have had to stream together a lot more wins and do a lot more things. So I think people are pissed off about that. I particularly don’t like him for that.”
Despite a less than impressive record (Lobov is 13-12 in MMA overall) Cub is not taking Artem’s threat lightly.
“It’s a chance for me to top my last performance. I know he’s tough. He’s a completely different style than my last fight, though he’s still a stand up guy. So I think it’s a chance for me to bring out the best of myself. I got to train for five rounds, so that made me push it beyond my last camp, and so basically I’m going to go out there and show the best version of myself, just try to show that I’m on another level.”
Artem had an impressive run inside the Ultimate Fighter house with three KO/TKO wins. Do you think he has a chance against Cub Swanson on Saturday night? Let us know in the comments below!
