Are we ready to see Jon Jones finally return to the Octagon?
What a series of events for Jon Jones. Initially pulled from UFC 187 in May of 2015 due to a hit and run incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Then returns one year later at UFC 200 in July of 2016 only to be pulled from the event due to being flagged by USADA. Then suspended for a further year, and upon his return it looks like he could be granted an immediate title shot.
Jon Jones suspension is up one day after UFC 213 in July, so that rules him off an International Fight Week return. Dana White came out over the UFC 210 weekend and claimed he would not let Jon Jones headline a card in his return, but he may be eating his words as soon as two weeks later.
Dana came out yesterday with a bold statement regarding Daniel Cormier’s next opponent.
“Cormier is available to fight on July 8, but that time-frame doesn’t work for Jon Jones. Cormier already told me he’s willing to fight either Jones or (Jimi) Manuwa. If Jon Jones is ready to fight on July 29, we’ll see the Jones versus Cormier rematch finally.”
There we have it. It’s now up to DC whether he wants Manuwa at UFC 213 or Jones at UFC 214.
